Tips on Choosing the Best Senior Home Care Service

Living far away from the aging parents or being occupied with a full-time job leaves you with little opportunity to help older adults in their day-to-day activities. They might be unable to perform everyday tasks like walking, cleaning the house, and preparing meals. Moreover, older adults might start to feel lonely when spending so much time alone in the house. The best solution is to appoint a senior home care service to provide the older adult with the best care. The following tips will help you choose the best senior home care service.

Choose verified attendants

Ensure the elderly are in expert hands by choosing verified attendants. Conduct your background checks in order to be extra careful and to be on the safer side. Samvedna Senior Care’s home care services for the elderly brings to you verified and trained in-home attendants. Our staff is specially instructed by experts in elder care and dementia. Along with ensuring proper care of the elderly’s physical health with quality personal care and nursing, our attendants also look after their emotional wellbeing. Our senior care specialists keep a close eye on the attendants.

Look for attendants with whom the elderly would be comfortable with

Make the elderly interact with the attendant before getting him/her on-board. Let the older adult feel if there’s a sense of comfort and openness with the attendant. Samvedna Care offers elder care services in Delhi and our warm and compassionate attendants and nurses make it a norm to keep the comfort of the older adult at the forefront. They assist the elderly in all day-to-day activities like bathing, grooming, wearing clothes, feeding, and help with medication administration, nebulization, steaming, and light physical exercises. They deal with the elderly with utmost patience and sincerity along with making them feel independent.

Family respite care

You would need to choose a caregiver according to your requirements. If you need an attendant occasionally while you are away and the older adult is alone at home, you can opt for family respite care. We offer senior home care services and provide respite care facilities to the families in need of a caregiver once in a while. This service can be availed for a minimum of 4 hours up to 8 hours a day. Our highly trained and sensitive caregivers ensure proper care of the elderly, keep a close watch on their diet, assist in activities, and interact with them to keep loneliness at bay.

Look for travel assistance if the elderly are hesitant to travel alone

Many-a-times, the elderly would need to step out of the house for bank visits, religious ceremonies, running errands, and meeting friends. However, they might not feel safe traveling alone because of the fear of falling while walking. A travel assistant would be of great help. We bring to you accompaniment services for senior citizens with special needs. Our verified and compassionate attendants accompany the older adults and ensure they reach safely.

Companionship

In order to ward off loneliness and to keep the elderly engaged and happy, you can choose Samvedna Care’s companionship services. Our senior specialists keep the elderly busy with meaningful conversations, discussions, and recreational activities like playing board and card games.

At Samvedna Care, we ensure the elderly are provided with the best care. We cater to the intellectual, emotional, and physical wellbeing of older adults and offer top-class supervision and senior citizen care at home. We aim to make them happy and healthy.

The Connection Between Aging, Exercise, and Healthy Lungs

Enjoying a long and healthy retirement requires taking good care of yourself. While many people focus on living a heart-smart lifestyle, taking proactive steps to maintain healthy lungs is essential, too. As we age, the lungs become weaker and less flexible. This can contribute to a variety of diseases and chronic health conditions. According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute , lung-related illnesses are the 3rd leading cause of death in this country. That includes lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and asthma—adding up to nearly 235,000 deaths a year. Here are a few tips you can use to keep your lungs healthy: Stop smoking. Talk with your primary care physician about smoking cessation programs. Avoid secondhand smoke. Research shows it can be just as deadly as being a smoker. Stay away from harsh chemicals. It’s important to avoid breathing in damaging fumes (e.g., home cleaners and weed killers). Prevent infections. Many infections can lead to

How You Can Join the Fight Against Alzheimer’s

World Alzheimer’s Month in September is an opportunity to raise awareness about this complex disease and to challenge the stigmas surrounding dementia. Launched in 2012, the awareness month spotlights the fact that 2 out of every 3 people globally believe there is little understanding of dementia in their countries. More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia and it is the 6 th leading cause of death in the US, according to the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual report. With the senior population growing quickly, Alzheimer’s and dementia cases will continue to increase as well, unless researchers can find a cure. This upcoming Monday, Sept. 21, is World Alzheimer’s Day, a call to action for all of us to educate ourselves on how to take preventative steps, identify symptoms and support loved ones who have been diagnosed. The film Sputnik Moment – 30 years and beyond was screened at our senior citizen centre in Gurgaon for our members and staff. The film highlighted how senior citizens in Germany and the US were taking up second careers to fill their time, engage meaningfully and also get support through additional income. Post the screening Dr. Martin Gieselmann, Executive Secretary, SAI, Heidelberg University and Dr. Constanze, Coordinator DAAD Project, Heidelberg University along with our team engaged with the audience in an interesting discussion on the Indian scenario. Members shared that in India it is not easy for senior citizens to pick up jobs after retirement, however it was interesting to see that many in the audience did have jobs post retirement.
